I have worked across BBC Children’s, BBC Learning, factual programs, reality series, programme development and daytime shows. Please explore a small selection of my broadcast work before I became a freelance video producer.
CBeebies ‘The Lets Go club’
Top Tips for Baking Together
Content Producer
As part of my work in the CBeebies online content team, I created an article on baking with children. My role included casting, scripting, directing the crew, children and presenter on location. I edited the footage into a user-friendly 'top tips' format, wrote the accompanying copy, integrated brand graphics, and published it on the website.
As a member of 'The Let's Go Club' filming team, I scripted and directed several VTs featuring children from across the UK as they explored new places and shared their interests, which included activities like geocaching, scootering, circus skills, and alpaca farming. Here's one example that highlights children learning and taking part in the Chinese Lion dance.
When working on CBeebies' 'Treasure Champs,' I scripted and directed multiple VTs and interviews showcasing children exploring and demonstrating values or 'Treasures,' including thankfulness, creativity, and peacefulness. Here are two examples from the 'Adventurousness episode. (VTs start at 08:00-12:49)
In this episode entitled Peacefulness I wrote and directed a VT about children learning how to meditate with the help of a Buddhist monk.
(VT starts at 08:00-10:29)
I was the filming director for this episode,' I wrote the script, completed the risk assessment, shot and directed the episode. Throughout the other episodes, in my role as a filming researcher, I cross shot material, casted contributors, found locations, researched and pitched stories.
CBeebies Development 'Magic Door'
Development Assistant Producer
In the CBeebies programme development team, I wrote proposals, treatments, and led idea sessions. I also shot and edited tasters for various pilots and projects. For the music & movement themed pilot ‘Magic Door,’ I negotiated rates with the specialist green screen cameraman, costume designer, and choreographer. I wrote the briefs for the composer and graphics companies, who had to pitch for the work to produce all the background graphics, magical effects, and post-production. I organised the casting of the children, managed filming logistics, and controlled costs to ensure the project stayed within budge. Due to the success of the pilot, multiple online episodes were commissioned.
